We decided on a spontaneous end-of-summer escape, but finding available spots was tough due to high demand. Fortunately, the Lodge at Schroon Lake New York, which had recently undergone renovations, had a few openings. We felt really fortunate to secure such a wonderful place for the weekend. After a four-hour drive, we enjoyed a delightful stay of two nights and three days. I can’t wait to go back in the winter for skiing and on a hot weekend in the summer.
Where to stay
We stayed in the main lodge at the Lodge at Schroon Lake in New York. This lodge houses the game room, pool, and fitness center, making it super convenient. Our room was spacious, featuring a living area and a kitchenette. I adored the mix of modern and rustic decor, and the rooms were spotless. The new shower curtain was a nice touch. The main lodge also features a spacious bar area where they show movies and offer board games for you to enjoy. They also have chalets and areas for glamping
What to do
The pool was big and warm; we went there every day. Some things were still getting fixed, like the hot tub.
Inside the game room, there were fun games like air hockey, shuffleboard, two pool tables, and more. Spending time there with the kids was a blast, especially if it rained.
We had lots of fun with mini-golf and playing outside on the playground. You could also play pickleball, basketball, and volleyball.
They had a special spot by the lake with tables and seats where you could do paddleboarding, kayaking, and other stuff. Unfortunately, it was too chilly the weekend we went.
The best part of our trip was biking with Revolution Rail Co. We had a four-seater and biked through beautiful forests, catching glimpses of the Hudson River. We captured some awesome pictures. Next year, we’re planning to add white water rafting to our itinerary. It’s suitable for all ages and takes about 2 hours round trip.
The Lodge at Schroon Lake had scheduled activities every day, such as hikes and scavenger hunts. Our favorite was making s’mores by the fire – so yummy and so much fun.
What to eat
Sticks and Stones Wood Fired Bistro and Bar– The portions are generous, and the food is fried to perfection. We really enjoyed their pizza and fried calamari.
Bar Vino– They offer a wide range of beers and wines. My son was a fan of their coconut curry ramen.
Brown Swan-This restaurant is on the premises and follows a farm-to-table approach, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Pitkins Restaurant– Their breakfast is simple yet delicious. The food wasn’t greasy, and their pancakes were amazing.
9 Mile Coffee Co.– A charming modern spot with excellent coffee and fantastic breakfast sandwiches, perfect for when you’re in a hurry.
